Riley

CH Relic's Moonless Night RI FDC CGC CHIC

While Riley is not our first Canaan Dog, he's our first intact, our first to go into the "show ring" and other competitions, and our first shot at making puppies (eventually).  Riley has a good brain, a sense of willingness to work as a partner, and is of course very handsome.  Originally I'd told his breeder, Amy Preston (of Relic Canaans in CT USA) that I wasn't looking for a dog that could go into the conformation ring, I was more interested in the breed for home and light livestock work and might do some herding trials.  I did tell her I'd try a conformation show to see how I liked it.  Turns out, I'm ok with it but Riley LIVES for the show ring.  Despite having a typical aloof temperament, Riley loves to have people clap for him.  And he knows all the applause is for him, all the attention is on him.  I also think he just loves doing things with me/us as a partner.  He knows his "show clothes" (fancy collar and lead) and gets very excited if he sees me loading the show box into the car.  I continue to do conformation because he loves it so much.

Riley is by CH Hatikva Harvest Rain At Relic (Harvey) out of CH Renegade Sally (Birdie) breeders Amy Preston / Renee Kent

Watch for Riley in the show ring again some time in the Fall of 2022 and at the Palm Springs Kennel Club show in early January, 2023

Mirage

CH Pleasant Hill Mirage of Eastland CHIC

Mirage is our girly girl, our one true cuddle bug (with us, she's still typically aloof with strangers and prefers to watch rather than get right in the middle of things) and is one of the most athletic of all our Canaan Dogs, despite them all being very athletic.  She will be trying her hand (paw) at FastCAT in Fall of 2022, hopefully after successfully whelping and weaning the litter we're waiting to confirm (c'mon, June 13th!) and while she's not a FAN of the show ring, she does enjoy having a job and doing it well and she does show very well.  I also look forward to more herding trials and possibly Rally with her in the future, and of course now that the shutdowns have ended, her CGC and FDC are on the list.

Sierra

Mofet Making Waves at Heritage

Sierra is a true Daddy's Girl and a Canaan Dog through and through.  She's funny, extremely smart, likes to play pranks on humans and dogs alike, is very confident and LOVES to see new things and go new places. She's an interesting color that catches the eye of most who see her (cream with a sable overlay!) and even as a youngster she's proven that she can and will be gentle and very willing to 'make it all better' for her people.  More than any of the other Canaans we've had, she's thus far been more vocal when new people (or even the same people at a new time) come in and out of the gate or the house but she's learning how to just let it go, let it go (c'mon, you sang that in your head) and she's totally devoted to Mark, especially now that he's injured and having to endure painful physical therapy sessions (she lays barely touching him while he works and snuggles gently with him afterwards for comfort).  She's very adaptable and eventually will be Mark's to take into the ring, out on the hiking trails and even tagging along in the kayak, once he's healed and back on his feet.
